Adult
A hunger for learning God’s Word fuels a vibrant adult Christian Education program here at First Presbyterian Church. We offer a number of adult classes with varied curriculum and teaching styles which encourage us both to “Know Christ” and “Grow in Christ.” Our four adult Sunday school classes are co-ed, while Bible study groups exist both for men only and women only. Throughout the congregation, small groups meet in homes on their own for Bible study. Many of the classes and groups perform their own mission work, helping those in need within our community.

Our Men’s Prayer Breakfast group meets at 6 a.m. each Thursday morning, with the exception of holidays. We share breakfast items and conversation in a friendly atmosphere for the first half hour and Bible study the next half hour. We welcome all men of various faiths. Give us a chance to meet you. See you Thursday - 6 a.m.!
Women's Bible Study
All women of all ages, members, friends, women of the community, are invited to join us as we listen to noted Bible teachers weekly on dvd, study on our own during the week, then come together again to share how God is reaching out to us in our daily lives.
The studies not only impact us individually, but speak directly to our lives together as the body of Christ. When studies are taking place, a Tuesday morning group meets from 9 to 11 a.m. and a Tuesday evening group from 7 to 9 p.m. Check with the church office or church calendar for our current topic and schedule.
Presbyterian Women
Purpose of Presbyterian Women
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves:
- To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
- To support the mission of the church worldwide,
- To work for justice and peace, and
- To build an inclusive, caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (USA)
and witnesses to the promise of God’s Kingdom.
First Presbyterian Church of Strasburg’s Presbyterian Women meets monthly from September to May for Bible study, to learn about the work of local and international missions, and for fellowship and fun! Mission work is paramount, so the year is filled with activities and fundraisers held for our church family and community.
Women of all ages participate in the monthly gatherings or Circle meetings:
Deborah Circle – 4th Monday, 7:00 p.m.
Martha Circle – 3rd Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.
Mary Circle – 4th Monday, 7:00 p.m.
Rebecca Circle – 4th Tuesday, 1:30 p.m.
Ruth Circle – 2nd Monday, 7:00 p.m.
Sarah Circle – 3rd Wednesday, 9:15 a.m.
Throughout the year, a group of faithful ladies sew, knit, crochet and cut fabric to create handmade baby clothes, blankets and quilts. In the fall, their handiwork is displayed for all the congregation to enjoy. Our prayer shawl ministry touches the lives and warms the hearts of those in need.
Presbyterian Women prepares and serves funeral luncheons and receptions, annual Ministerium Lenten Service luncheons held at our church and organizes the weekly Sunday morning Coffee Fellowship.
PW is a group of caring women who nurture and celebrate each other and the church community, learn and grow together through Bible studies, and have a desire to serve the Lord by supporting many local, national and international ministries. Come join us!
